One of my life long interests has been dollhouse miniatures. I have always loved small things, and having the ability to create my own is exciting and rewarding. While my creations do include kits, I really enjoy creating things from scratch and challenging myself to use and reuse common items and materials.
Below are some of the things I have made in the past few years. You will see some bought items to help enhance a scene and some base structures modified to fit my goal aesthetic.
Room Box
This room box was designed and built around the central fireplace surround, which is made entirely from paper and paperboard. Other handmade elements include the alcoves and their shelving, mini fridge, accent wall, armchair, and the computer station sans the globe and rolling chair.
Arts & Crafts Style Dollhouse
The dollhouse below was purchased as an antique kit and included instructions to complete it in the style of the first two photos. I have built the base structure according to the instructions but have modified the exterior and interior aesthetic in the Arts & Crafts style. This house is still a work in progress, and I take my time deciding on colors and finishes for each floor. Currently, everything in the house has been made by hand, including the windows and door, as none of the current building materials sold for dollhouses fit the existing dimensions.
